MEET The Crew

Josh Kogler

From a young age, growing up in southwestern Colorado, I always had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Whether it was catching as many flies in the house as I could (my Dad paid 1 penny per dead fly), starting an automotive detailing business at the age of 15, or working a myriad of side jobs, I never shied away from the challenges. I have now been running this company since 2016, and continue to be rewarded, and also humbled.

I get to live on a wonderful farm with 2 dogs, 3 kitties, 4 pigs, 6 goats, 2 steers, not sure how many chickens, and most importantly, my amazing wife. I love the life I live, and I love that I am able to bring my mindset and skills into the lives of so many. I’m always ready to embrace the challenges that each particular project brings, and hopefully instill some knowledge and can-do-attitudes along the way!

I grew up in a small farming/timber town outside of Seattle. I suppose you could say I had the typical Pacific Northwest youth experience. Spent lots of days hiking and exploring the woods, rivers and mountains close to home. After high school, I moved to Bellingham, WA for school and additional outdoorsy adventuring. Here I fell in love with fly fishing, backpacking and snowboarding. These passions led me to Bend after I graduated.

I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands, getting a little dirty and love it when a plan comes together. Working with Josh and Rockin’ K has allowed me to grow as a craftsman, understand how homes function (inside and outside of walls) and he’s taught me a thing or two about farming/ranching!

Growing up between Boise and Seattle, time spent roaming the outdoors was always a driving force in my life. To this day, nothing has changed. Most free days are spent with my fiance out on a bike, snowboard or the river.

As a builder, I love the challenges of holistic construction. The ability to foresee and solve problems well before they present themselves will never lose its satisfaction.

I’m proud to say that I’m Oregon born and raised. With how much Oregon and the West coast has to offer for an outdoor minded individual like myself, I’ve been fortunate to have a wide range of experiences to speak on. From rafting in Maupin, to hiking the Pacific Crest Trail; I’ve been treated well. I grew up in a suburb just south of Portland, known as Lake Oswego. From a young age, my family would frequent the Central Oregon area with our cousins to spend time at my grandmother’s manufactured home nestled on half an acre on the Deschutes River. I may not have known it as a young lad, but making my way back to live in the area has been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made thus far.

I made the decision to relocate to Bend shortly after graduating the University of Oregon Architecture program. During my last year studying architecture, it became apparent that there is a strong disconnect between the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction sides to the built environment. As a kid, my old man always had me right by his side to work on the cars and motorcycles. At the time, I was just doing my best to retrieve the right size wrenches and sockets, but it sparked an interest in how things function as a whole. This interest and curiosity stayed with me.

Fast forward to deciding on a major for college, I felt the same drive and interest when it came to the built environment. You think about the approach to a building, communal spaces, architectural facade, and all that goes into a meaningful experience with a building. I’m grateful for my 2 years with Rockin’ K, as it has allowed me to bridge the gap and learn more than I imagined possible for the residential side of building.

I was born and raised in New Jersey, just across the river from Philadelphia.  I received my undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Rutger’s University and my Master’s degree in Family Therapy from Hahnemann University.

I started my bookkeeping career working for my parents’ business and continued with it in various venues throughout my life, including keeping my own books while in private practice as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.

Seven years ago my husband and I retired and moved to Bend.  It wasn’t long before I was looking for a “little something to do” and found myself with a part time job as bookkeeper for Rockin’ K. I’m delighted to be part of this organization.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and then spent my infant life on-base in Germany when my dad was in the military. I spent the rest of my childhood in Peachtree City, Georgia. We had a lot of woods bordering our backyard, and that’s when I fell in love with running around and playing outside.

My family moved to Corvallis, Oregon when I was heading into middle school. While attending high school, I started to love cross country running. I was stoked about having access to trails and getting muddy on rainy days.

I went to the University of Oregon for college, where I ran on the run club. I also spent a few years doing stand-up comedy and running my own show at a local college bar, Max’s Tavern. My senior year I got into sports announcing, and had the opportunity to announce track meets at Hayward Field. Upon graduating with double majors in Cinema Studies and Advertising, I wanted to go somewhere where I could put my degrees to use and have access to trails. My boyfriend and I chose Bend! We moved here in the Summer of 2025. I am an Assistant Cross Country Coach at Bend High (go Lava Bears), and I am so excited to do Social Media and Administration for Rockin’ K! The group is great, the leadership is wonderful, and the projects are rewarding.
